How to Use Buttons in The Button Room 2
Mark what you test. Stop pressing the zombie switch twice.
Every disaster and every jackpot in The Button Room 2 starts with a finger. The chamber is honest about this: one room, many buttons, total chaos. The skill is not bravery. The skill is information. This guide teaches you how to press with a reason, mark dead ends, and stop feeding the trap table.
Read Getting Started if you have not redeemed codes yet. A Laser Rifle in the pocket changes which risks are acceptable.
Sort buttons by job, not by color
Players hunt for a color code that does not exist. Paint jobs lie. Sort by outcome class instead:
Loot buttons. Drop paper, plank, camera, tools, cards, or Mecha parts. These are the only presses that advance escape or Mecha.
Printer buttons. Drip crypto-buttons on a timer, sometimes scaled by player count. Good for tablet shopping. Bad if you stand on them during a wave.
Combat buttons. Spawn guns, grenades, or armor. Also spawn the enemies that make you need those guns. Press when you already have a revive.
Trap buttons. Ragdoll explosions, zombies, skeletons, floor spikes, door slams. Funny once. Then they are just a wipe.
Event buttons. During admin sessions the usual classes collapse. Updates will say when the rules are off.
Blue Tape is your map
Tapes exist to mark a switch you already understand. LuckyBlock and similar codes grant Blue Tape. Stick it on tested traps so you — and teammates — stop rerolling the same death. A room full of unmarked buttons is a room you have not played yet, even if you have twenty minutes in.
Do not tape loot buttons you still need to farm unless you add a second mark color. Confusion is how the camera gets sold.
A press protocol that survives groups
- Call the press in chat if a wave is quiet.
- Press once. Wait for the full animation. Double-taps stack effects.
- If loot, pick up immediately; despawn windows are rude.
- If trap, kite, tape, never retry “for science” on a live server.
- If printer, note the rate, then leave it running while you do the puzzle.
The brightest button is not safer. Brightness is a lure. Unique models (skull, rabbit, oversized arcade) are often set pieces with extreme tables — watch a teammate or a clip before you ego it.
What you are actually hunting
For escape: paper, plank, camera, safe-related switches. For Mecha: bottom part button plus anything that unlocks the tablet. For economy: printers and trader-adjacent junk drops. For build: card packs that feed the card tier list.
Wooden crates need an axe. Green corpse boxes are a different interact. Fists on wood is a beginner tell.
When not to press anything
- You have not opened the gear panel for codes.
- A Mecha is already spawned.
- You are mid-photograph of the timed safe code.
- You are one hit from death with no Revive Card.
- An admin event just flipped the lighting. Wait five seconds and read the announcement.
Printers, crypto, and the tablet
Some buttons leak currency per second per nearby player. That sounds like an idle game because it is one, hiding inside a deathbox. Park on a printer only after traps are taped. Convert crypto at the trader and buy the camera from the tablet instead of rolling five more loot buttons.
Slot Coins are not the same currency. They belong to luck machines. Do not feed Slot Coins into a wall switch — you cannot.
Learning from deaths without becoming content
Unique death buttons are the comedy. Unique loot buttons are the wiki. Watch a compilation if you want the meme list, then come back here and only copy the loot class. Your leaderboard time does not improve because you found the skeleton gag a second time.
If a press opened a wall or a hidden hatch, treat it as a loot button and tape a note. Hidden geometry is how people miss the secret door after a Mecha kill.
Tie it back to endings
Buttons are the verb. Endings are the sentence. Every useful press should move you toward the chair key or the waist key. If you cannot say which, you are entertaining the room, not playing it. When the map in your head is solid, return to how to escape or Mecha and finish.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for the chamber, codes, and escape route.
Is there a color code for safe buttons?
No reliable paint rule. Sort by outcome and mark with Blue Tape as described above.
What are tapes for?
Marking buttons you already tested so you do not repeat a trap. Codes such as LuckyBlock grant Blue Tape.
Should I press every button once?
Not on a live escape attempt. Hunt loot-class switches, then stop. See how to escape.
Why did a button spawn zombies first?
Trap tables can roll before loot. Redeem codes so the first wave is survivable.
